Lindsay Lohan has been advised to stay in rehab for at least another 30 days, but the troubled actress has told friends that she won't be staying any minute longer than she has to, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

The treatment team at Cliffside Malibu recently implored the 27-year-old to consider staying beyond her court-ordered release date at the end of July, as part of a plea deal she struck to avoid jail for lying to police about driving during a car accident in 2012.

"Lindsay has been doing so well at Cliffside. She is responding very, very well to treatment," a source told Radar.

"The treatment team wants Lindsay to stay for at least another 30 days, because she didn't do her entire 90 days at Cliffside. Someone with her addition and psychiatric issues needs extensive treatment and 90 days just isn't enough. She is in a really good place right now, but her doctors want that to continue."

Lohan checked out of the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., for the Malibu rehab in June.

Despite the advise of her counselors, Lohan is defiant about her imminent release.

"Lindsay says she is required to be in Venice, Italy, at the beginning of August to attend the premiere of The Canyons," the source said. "She has assured the doctors that she will continue to go to AA/NA meetings and work the 12 steps.

The starlet recently celebrated celebrated her 27th birthday with a special visit from her attorney Shawn Holley, complete with a cake donated by Carvel that she shared with other patients.

It hasn't all been fun, though: The ex-Mean Girls star was unhappy with Betty Ford from the beginning and begged the judge and prosecutors to allow her to leave — a move they ultimately granted.
