The singer-turned-fashion designer celebrated the pending birth of her baby boy with a lavish al fresco party at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles Sunday afternoon with a heavy security presence.
Arriving at 1.30 p.m. Jessica, 32, was welcomed by around 100 guests, including some famous faces for the country/western themed event that was masterminded by celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss.
Guests gorged on mini-burgers, corn on the cob and fried chicken during the four-hour shower.
And it was very much a kid-friendly affair with Jessica and Eric’s daughter Maxwell in attendance, as well as a host of other kids of friends of the family that were seen running around the lavish hotel’s lush gardens.
Jessica’s father Joe arrived a little later in the day to avoid any possible confrontation with Tina.
“Joe has agreed to come a little later so Tina can slip out before he gets there to avoid any drama on Jessica’s big day, a source close to the Simpson family tells Radar.
“They both were desperate to come and support their daughter, but it’s been a little bit difficult with everything that’s been going on between the pair .
Jessica’s initial baby shower plans had gone awry when her parents said they didn’t want to be in the same room together. It left Jessica in an uncomfortable position almost forcing her to choose between the two, or not invite either.
And despite her differences with Joe, Jessica still invited him to the baby shower because she wanted him to be part of the celebrations.
"Jessica naturally wants Tina there, who she has grown closer to, since supporting her through the messy divorce," the source added.
