Could Anderson Cooper be stealing the TODAY anchor chair from Matt Lauer?

According to, the CNN news hero and daytime talk show host has been approached by NBC to fill the shoes of the embattled anchor, who has suffered bitter backlash ever since he allegedly drove Ann Curry from the hot seat – causing a mammoth ratings slide and putting his $25 million salary at risk.

Meanwhile, as previously reported, Lauer may flex his game show hosting skills by taking over from Jeopardy host, Alex Trebek, when the game show guru retires.
