Lindsay Lohan's attorney Mark Heller's New York law license could be in jeopardy for allegedly tampering with witness Gavin Doyle's potential testimony in the troubled starlet's lying to cops case, after her former assistant told law enforcement in Los Angeles on Monday that the attorney wanted him to say photographers were chasing the car she was driving and that he grabbed the steering wheel of the Porsche, causing the accident, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

Doyle was the passenger in Lohan's Porsche last summer when she crashed into a cement truck in Santa Monica, CA. Doyle had been fully cooperating with prosecutors, and he was expected to be a key witness at the trial, had it proceeded.

"Gavin will be meeting with Los Angeles City Attorney Terry White on Tuesday about Mark Heller asking him to change his potential testimony in the lying to cops case if it had gone to trial. Heller allegedly wanted Gavin to tell jurors that photographers were chasing the Porsche Lindsay was driving, and that he grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to crash. This is a completely different version of events that Gavin had told cops and the prosecutor before the trial was supposed to begin. This conversation between Gavin and Heller allegedly occurred in New York City, and in the very least, the prosecutor will be turning over his findings to the New York State Bar for further investigation. If Terry White believes a crime transpired, he will be in contact with law enforcement in New York City, because they would have jurisdiction," a law enforcement source told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 26-year-old actress struck a plea deal in her lying to cops case on Monday, which will send her to rehab for 90 days. After the hearing, while Heller was addressing the throngs of media, Lindsay’s dad Michael started heckling him – threatening to get the lawyer’s license to practice taken away, among other issues – and Heller quickly crumbled under the pressure, running away from the cameras.

Never one to let things go, the intrepid Mi-Lo followed in hot pursuit, until tiring of the chase and returning back to the crowd to address the media himself!

“Heller is a piece of garbage,” Michael told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview following his attorney chase.

As RadarOnline.com was first to report, on February 8, 1994, Heller was suspended by the Supreme Court of New York, Appellate Division from practicing law for a period of five years.

Heller’s violations involved 12 separate clients, and he was found guilty of 18 violations in total.

According to court documents, there was “a pattern of misconduct involving misrepresentation, deceit, abusive treatment of clients, fee gouging, neglect and willful failure to return unearned retainers to his clients.”

Our sources tell us, "this is being taken extremely seriously. Gavin's claims are going to be fully investigated, and appropriate action will be taken if it merits."

Repeated calls seeking comment to Mark Heller weren't immediately returned. Heller did tell another media outlet that any allegations of witness tampering were "crazy."
