When Kathie Lee Gifford brought up Martin Short's dead wife on as if she were still alive, jaws dropped open all over America — but Martin now says that mistakes happen.
Martin, 62, was more than gracious while Kathie Lee rattled on about what a great marriage he and Nancy Dolman have and how they're still in love after all this time.
Nancy passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010 and realizing the error of her ways, Kathie Lee tweeted immediately following the broadcast saying, "I send my sincerest apologies to @MartinShort and his family. He handled situation w/enormous grace and kindness and I'm so grateful."
On Thursday Martin told E! News, "I think that it's live television and people make mistakes and there's no ill will intended.
"And I think it's nice to aspire to be that way."
