And we’re down to the top ten on American Idol, as Shannon Magrane is no longer in the running.
Magrane, 16, was eliminated from the hit Fox show Thursday night after her last chance rendition of Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's hit 90s ballad One Sweet Day failed to resonate with the judges, who could have used their one save on her if they saw fit.
“Unfortunately, we’re not gonna use it tonight Shannon,” judge Randy Jackson glumly told the teen.
"It feels so good standing on this stage," the wiry Tampa, Florida native said after she was let go. Had she lasted one more round, Magrane would have qualified to join the show’s annual summer tour, which features the top ten acts lighting up the stage at arenas throughout the country.
The other two contestants who rounded out the bottom three in voting this week were South Carolina teacher Elise Testone and Rhode Island DJ Erika Van Pelt. Also in the hunt for this year’s crown are Colton Dixon, Skylar Laine, Joshua Ledet, Deandre Brackensick, Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Heejun Han and Jessica Sanchez.
Other features this week inlcuded big name designer Tommy Hilfiger helping "shape the contstants toward stardom" with his fashion advice; and performances from the great Demi Lovato and Daughtry, the band headed by season five finalist Chris Daughtry.
American Idol’s eleventh season continues next Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.
