He'd survived tornadoes and hurricanes to become a legend among storm chasers. But on Saturday, Andy Gabrielson lost his life in a head-on collision with a driver going the wrong way on the interstate.
The popular Weather Channel contributor, who was recently featured on NBC's Dateline, was killed in Oklahoma while on his way home after a two-day storm chase in Texas.
"Andy was a new breed of storm chaser that pushed the limits of what any of us thought was possible. He inspired an entire generation of chasers to pursue their passion," said The Weather Channel's Mike Bettes.
The Emmy-winning reporter was just 24-year-old and leaves behind a three-year-old daughter.
