The gossip is heating up in Alaska.
Bristol Palin felt so slighted by Sarah Palin’s 2007 pregnancy, she wanted to one-up her famous mom with a bun in the oven of her own, her baby's father Levi Johnston says in his new book.
Levi claims an attention-seeking Bristol told him in March 2008, "Let's get pregnant," as she felt it was she, and not her mother (pregnant with son Trig, who was born in April 2008), that should be the next Palin on the baby registry.
The former Playgirl centerfold admits he'd "been too dumb" to use a condom with his ex, as he knew "what she wanted" was to have his child.
Sarah Palin thought Bristol and Levi were playing a joke on her when they first told her about their pregnancy, according to Johnston in the book.
After finding out they were not pulling a rib, Sarah -- on the cusp of becoming the Republican vice presidential candidate -- suggested Bristol and Levi put the child up for adoption to "avoid a scandal." (They both rejected the idea, Johnston said.)

The baby boy, Tripp, was born in December 2008, to Bristol, then-17, and Levi, then-18.
Sarah wanted Tripp to call her "mommy" instead of "grandma," Johnston claims in the book.

Bristol, asked about the book during an appearance on The Tonight Show in July, said Johnston’s "gonna have to find a screenwriter or something to come up with more obnoxious lies, so I’m not worried about it."
Johnston’s book Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs, hit shelves September 20; Bristol's memoir Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far is in bookstores now.
