David Arquette talked candidly with Ellen DeGeneres about getting sober, the dissolution of his marriage to Courteney Cox and why he chose to do Dancing with the Stars and RadarOnline.com has a video preview for you.
David and Courteney ended their 11-year marriage last October and he admitted the heartbreak led him to drink more and at one point he even wanted to end his life.
"We had grown apart for quite a while and I was just really heartbroken over it. I used it as an excuse to accelerate my drinking. You know, to be honest, I didn't want to live anymore," David told Ellen while taping The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"I didn't know how to deal with these feelings. And part of getting sober, it's really difficult at the beginning. You are confronted with of these new emotions... You know, you're not good enough."
Eventually laughing off the voices in his head, David said he's moved on now and is doing much better - keeping his mind occupied with dance rehearsals for DWTS!
"I'm exhausted. I've been dancing for like five hours a day. It's amazing. Every bone aches. I'm starting to get a little situation," David jokes about his abs.
"I did it because I love dancing... A lot of the themes that are involved with dancing are involved with sort of my way of life now. Balance, staying connected to your core, being in touch with everything around you, the flow of life. And that's what it's sort of about for me. It also gave me an opportunity for people to get to know me. Because they may have preconceived notions of who I am. Just to be out there and have fun and entertain people because I'm an entertainer."
You can catch all of David's appearance - and his bedazzled gift from Ellen - airing on Tuesday, September 13.
