According to Star, just 24 hours before he took his own life, Russell lashed out at Taylor after she questioned him about the couple’s shaky financial state.

On August 14, the magazine reports, the altercation exploded into physical violence at Taylor’s Bel Air Crest home, which the estranged couple once shared.

“A distraught (Taylor) called two of her closest friends on the night of August 14, sobbing, ‘Russell hit me’ ” the magazine reports.

One of those contacted by the Housewife tells of a hysterical Taylor calling for help.

“Taylor was crying hysterically and told me Russell punched her in the face,” the friend told the magazine.

“She was so terrified.”
