Sean Avery of the New York Rangers is out on bail after allegedly shoving a Los Angeles police officer at his Hollywood, California home on Friday.
Several of Avery’s neighbors called the LAPD complaining of loud music coming from his home around 1 am Friday.
When cops arrived, Avery reportedly shoved an officer with both hands and then slammed the front door.
The 31-year-old hockey star was then arrested and taken to jail where he posted $20,000 bail and charged with a misdemeanor.
Avery is no stranger to controversy. While playing for the Dallas Stars in 2008, he was suspended by the NHL for making crude comments about ex-girlfriends Elisa Cuthbert and Rachel Hunter dating other hockey players.
Avery recently came out in support of same-sex marriage, making him one of the first pro athletes to publicly do so.
