Jennifer Lopez says she considered not returning to American Idol for a second season after working on the show and her crumbling marriage left her feeling worn out.

"I got a little bit tired at the end with everything going on in my life at the time," says Lopez, whose split with husband Marc Anthony was announced less than two months after the American Idol finale in May.

Speaking Thursday at a press conference in Savannah, Georgia -- where the show is currently taping  --  the Jenny on the Block singer told reporters why she changed her mind.

Said Lopez: "It is one of the best things I've ever done. Walking in here, they're working at a diner, and we get to watch them grow into a superstar. I was like 'OK, I'm gonna do it again.’"

Lopez  said  she also enjoyed working with fellow judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler and host Ryan Seacrest. (Of course, her reported $20 million salary probably didn’t hurt either).

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, announced on July 15 that they were divorcing after seven years of marriage. "This was a very difficult decision," the couple said in a statement. "It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

The couple has 3-year-old twins Max and Emme.

As for American Idol, it begins its eleventh season on January 22, 2012.
