You knew it was coming. The killing of Osama bin Laden by an elite troop of Navy Seals is being turned into a movie by director Kathryn Bigalow, who won an Oscar for The Hurt Locker.
Bigalow and writer Mark Boal, who also penned The Hurt Locker, had been working on a film about Navy Seal Team 6 and its hunt for bin Laden for the last two years. Their success in cornering and killing the world’ most wanted terrorist put the movie project over the top, and it’s been fast-tracked into production this summer.
There’s no word on casting yet. The Hurt Locker made a star out of Jeremy Renner, who was nominated for an Oscar for his lead role.
Bigalow is likely to go with another not-yet-a-star actor for her bid Laden movie, an insider tells RadarOnline.com.
