As  RadarOnline.com has previously reported, a line from the film in which character Ronny Valentine (played by Vince Vaughn) says “that’s so gay” was snipped in the wake of a slew of gay bullying incidents late last year, including the suicide of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi.

Howard said that he was a little surprised about the controversy, as he's heard the phrase bandied about in many TV shows, particularly comedies.

Howard told The View that he agreed with the line being taken out of the preview (so it wouldn't be misunderstood), a piece of advertising. He said, however, he kept it in the forthcoming film because within the proper context, it fits the character and is not offensive.
