Prince William and Kate Middleton’s upcoming wedding will be one of the most anticipated events of this century. In honor of the newest official royal couple, RadarOnline.com is recounting the most fabulous royal weddings over the years.
The 1981 wedding of Prince William’s parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana remain a vivid memory in most people’s minds. From Diana’s plume-filled dress, to their storybook horse-drawn carriage, to their iconic kiss for the masses- their opulent ceremony tops many people’s lists of the biggest of royal nuptials.
In 1986, the Duke and Duchess of York (Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson), echoed Diana and Charles’ affair of a wedding, tying the know at Westminster Abbey before leaving in a carriage as the crowds cheered them on.
Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones, the daughter of Princess Margaret, married the Daniel Chatto on July 14, 1994 at the St. Stephen Walbrook Church in London. Two years earlier, Lady Helen Windsor and Tim Taylor wed in front of a group which included Princess Diana.

In May 1998, Peter Phillips- Queen Elizabeth’s eldest grandson- married his Canadian fiance Autumn Kelly in front of 300 guests which included the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton.
The next year, the world turned their attention to Belgium when Prince Philippe wed Mathilde d’Udekem d’Acoz.
That attention was also once again focused on England when the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward married Sophie Rhys-Jones at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle- a departure from the more formal ceremonies usually conducted at either Westminster Abbey or St. Paul’s Cathedral.
