Though Justin Bieber has had a lot on his mind lately (laser tag controversy anyone?), the singer took time out from his busy schedule to promote something that was close to his heart. Bieber, along with other stars including Bow Wow, Victoria Justice, David Henrie, and Mark Wahlberg, spent Sunday afternoon at Variety’s Power of Youth Event by The Hub.
While Bieber caused the normal amount of screams from the fans in the crowd, the teen star graciously handed over the mic to Pencils of Promise founder Adam Braun. With Bieber’s help, the foundation has been able to build 15 schools.
“It’s amazing, I like to be a positive influence for others so it’s great,” he said on the purple carpet. The goal of the Variety Power of Youth campaign is to encourage young entertainers to support philanthropic and humanitarian causes and use their fame to inspire their fans to do the same.
Besides the speeches from the stage, there was a lot of action off of it. Paramount Studios’ New York street was turned into a do-gooding carnival mixing charity and fun. Wahlberg, with his daughter and her friend, stopped by the Sprinkles truck not once, but twice! Not wanting to spoil their appetite or their fun, Wahlberg let the two girls have a mini red velvet cupcake before lunch and then let them come back after lunch for a second serving of the sweet treats.
Meanwhile, Glee hunk Chord Overstreet, who happily posed with fans throughout the day, refreshed at the Coke Aluminum Bottle bar with a Sprite as a brunette female tried to catch his attention.
Also there: Kendall Jenner and a pal getting baseball caps decorated, Shailene Woodley hanging out with other supporters of her charity All It Takes..., Maria Bello walking around with her son, Richie Sambora enjoying a relaxing afternoon with his daughter, and Modern Family stars Nolan Gould and Ariel Winter catching up with friends and chatting with fans.
