Celine Dion, who gave birth to twin boys last week, told a Canadian news outlet she was originally pregnant with triplets but lost one of the babies, RadarOnline.com has learned.
"He chose to let go to give space to his brothers to grow," the My Heart Will Go On singer told Quebec TV.
The five-time Grammy-winning singer her husband René Angélil welcomed their twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, into the world Saturday at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Eddy was named after Dion's first producer Eddy Marnay, Dion’s rep told People, while Nelson was named for leader Nelson Mandela, who the couple met in 2008 while Dion was touring in South Africa.
Dion, 42, and Angélil, 68, also have a 9-year-old son, Rene Charles, who was conceived by in-vitro fertilization.
A rep for Dion confirmed to RadarOnline.com that the story is in fact true.
