Michael Lohan is making a pre-emptive strike and plans to establish a conservatorship for Lindsay Lohan.

He told RadarOnline.com, in an exclusive interview: "You bet your ass I’m filing a conservatorship.”

As RadarOnline.com first revealed, the estranged Lohan patriarch claimed he's learned of an alleged plot, supposedly being orchestrated by Lindsay’s mom Dina, to put their troubled daughter under a conservatorship.

Michael said Dina and the actress’ new business manager, Lou Taylor, are moving toward obtaining the conservatorship, which would allow legal control of his daughter's well-being and finances as she battles serious substance abuse issues.

Now Michael has started the process of requesting his own conservatorship.

“I just signed the retainer with an attorney,” Michael told RadarOnline.com.

“I consulted one because I wanted to know what my options were if Dina and Lou Taylor file one.

“My attorney told me my best bet was to file one first to avoid any problems.”

But according to Michael, he doesn’t “want to be Lindsay's conservator” -- instead he wants to be installed as a petitioner.

He said, “Then I want an independent third party to act as conservator over Lindsay's person and estate."
