Monica Beresford-Redman, the slain wife of former Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, went to Mexico to save their marriage, a long-time friend told RadarOnline.com.

Mariza Alyrio also revealed that Monica's sister Carla Burgos filed for custody of the couple's two children. RadarOnline.com obtained the petition for court papers. The Associate Press reported that Carla was not granted custody, which instead was awarded to the grandparents of the children.

"What I heard and learned was they were having some marriage trouble, but she wanted to reconcile the marriage. She went there to reconcile the marriage, he’s the father of her kids and her goal was to save it," Alyrio said. "She loved him more than anything. And she wanted to reconcile with him"

Alyrio dances at Monica's Zabumba Bar & Restaurant and knew her for twenty three years. She was also present at the couple's wedding.

She also revealed that Monica's sister Carla said she was planning to file for permanent custody of the kids.
