Sandra Bullock Gets First Oscar Nod; Faces Meryl Streep - Again

Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock, two of Hollywood's most accomplished actresses, albeit with vastly different resumes, are at the heart of the battle for the best actress Oscar for their efforts in Julie & Julia and The Blind Side, respectively.

Steep and Bullock duked it out at this year's Golden Globe awards in the best comedy actress in a film category, with Streep (Julie & Julia) besting Bullock (The Proposal); Bullock did secure the best drama actress in a film for her efforts in The Blind Side, however.

Streep has been nominated for 15 Academy Awards, winning best actress twice (Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie's Choice), while Tuesday's announcement makered the first nomination for Bullock.
