Nick Gordon spent the time Bobbi Kristina Brown's funeral service with his mother Michele in Daytona Beach, Fla., as it was "a place that they both loved."

"He said the beach was always their favorite place to go so he decided that he would honor her," Michele told People. "Nick went to beach with me."

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, mourners paid farewell to the late 22-year-old during Saturday's service at Alpharetta, Ga.'s St. James United Methodist Church, which organizer Pat Houston intended as a themed "Sweet 16" celebration of her life.

Last week, the grieving Gordon tried to get the blessing of Houston and Bobby Brown in an emotional letter in which he said, "I'm begging you both to please put your differences aside and allow me this chance ... Krissi loved me very much and she would want me there."

Gordon, 25, remains under investigation in Georgia in regards to what role he might have played in the events leading to the late daughter of Whitney Houston being found in a bathtub face-down Jan. 31, setting her on a downward spiral she would never recover from.

He's also on the wrong end of a $40 million civil lawsuit filed in Fulton County, Ga. by his late girlfriend's conservator Bedelia Hargrove. In the suit, Hargrove said that Gordon had intentionally inflicted emotional distress, battery and assault on Bobbi Kristina, all while siphoning more than $11,000 from her bank account without permission.
