Angelina Back From The Dead!

Troubled beauty Angelina Jolie has been brought back from the brink of death after spending a fortune on secret medical experiments, sources say.

The once rail-thin Maleficent star — who had docs remove her breasts and womb to prevent cancer — was at death's door after her brutal breakup with Brad Pitt, insiders tell RadarOnline.

But the 41-year-old actress was saved by "live cell replacement treatment" at a European clinic, sources say.

During the procedure "live healthy cells are injected into the patient," explains New York internist Dr. Stuart Fischer, who has not treated Angie. "This results in the regeneration of patient's own cells and the stimulationof the immune system."

The procedures "seem to have done wonders for her," says Fischer. "She seems to have had significant weight gain and looks healthier than she has in months!" Experts say the injections can cost $5,000 a piece or more!

Earlier, the Tomb Raider beauty's emaciated appearance had friends and medical experts fearing for her life. After dropping to 76 pounds and refusing to eat, Angie was placed on a life-saving feeding tube, pals say.

Adds an insider: "She was a mess" and her bitter custody fight with Brad made things worse.

"She thought the entire world was against her and was on a self-destructive path that would have killed her had she not sought help," says the insider.

Since the treatments, the on-the-go UN special ambassador, who has three biological children and three adopted kids, was put on a special meal plan and fitness routine. She has regained an estimated 53 pounds in a matter of months.

"The cell replacement surgery combined with what seems to be an intensely supervised diet and exercise program seems to have made her healthy once again," says Fischer.
