Eddie Murphy‘s new movie, A Thousand Words, sat on the shelf for four years before its release, based on its box office return this weekend, it should have stayed there. The flick, which cost $40 million to make, took in only $6.3 million in ticket sales.
That’s one big ouch.
The result, writes Deadline‘s veteran Hollywood watcher Nikki Finke, “demonstrates the tragic degree to which reviewers and audience have deserted Eddie Murphy.
“Where Eddie’s career goes from here will be debated. He should have hosted the Oscars. Now he really needs to go back into television.”
