New Tell-All Book: The Clintons, Carly Simon, Her Gay Hubby & Their Nights At Camp David
Bill and Hillary Clinton secretly holed up at Camp David with Carly Simon — whose lovers include some of Hollywood's most infamous studs — to await the Senate's final vote on the Monica Lewinsky affair.
The scandal-tarred First Couple's extraordinary invitation to the hot-blooded singer is revealed by Simon's ex-husband James Hart in an excerpt from his forthcoming memoirs that he exclusively has released to RadarOnline.com.
"One of the strange highlights of 1999 was spending the weekend of the Senate vote on Clinton's impeachment at Camp David with Bill and Hillary. Carly thought that they should not spend this weekend alone, that they should have friends around them," Hart writes in Lucky Jim.
Hart, who arrived with Simon at the Presidential retreat shortly before the Senate voted against impeachment, was astounded by the Clintons' lightheartedness about Bill's sexual antics.
"The most amazing part of the weekend was the equanimity of Bill and Hillary. They actually translated the impeachment as a final victory," he said.
Bounding into the room where they met up on the Friday of the vote, Bill "began to talk about how it was finally over, that the bastards couldn't do anything to him anymore. He said that they had been after him for thirty years and now it was over."
The following evening, they joined the Clintons to watch a new movie, Happy, Texas, said Hart. The plot centers on two escaped convicts who are mistaken for the gay couple in charge of a Texas teen beauty pageant.

"It seemed an odd choice given what President Clinton had just escaped from and survived," Hart said.
"We finished our stay with a moving chapel service on Sunday morning. I wasn't sure if Hillary and Bill thought they had the help of God, but they seemed to be able to reconstruct their marriage in the most difficult of circumstances. Carly and I found it inspirational."
About three years later, Hart's own marriage drifted on the rocks when he realized he was gay. But "our issues were nothing in comparison to the Clintons'," he said.
Simon's conquests reputedly have included Jack Nicholson, Kris Kristofferson and Mick Jagger as well as Warren Beatty, who she says inspired the angriest lines in her 1972 hit "You're so Vain."
