Simon Cowell Breaks His Silence On Baby News, Says ‘I’m Proud To Be A Dad’

Simon Cowell might have been shocked to find out that he was going to become a father for the first time, but the television mogul has broken his silence about the situation to say that he has completely embraced the idea and is “proud to be a dad.”

Lauren Silverman is expecting a child with the American Idol mogul and she became pregnant while she was married to wealthy businessman Andrew Silverman , but they quickly settled their divorce.

Now Simon is talking about his impending fatherhood, telling the BBC at the One Direction's film premiere in Leicester Square, “Things are changing in my life right now.”

“I’m proud to be a dad,” Simon kindly said about the surprise situation.

Simon says he is breaking his silence because the situation is not something to hide, despite the fact that he previously hadn’t expressed an interest in having children.

“Something I haven’t thought of before and now I know I feel good about it.”

As for the mother of his child, who is also the mother to a year-old son, he said: “She’s a very special girl.”

Lauren is almost in her second trimester but Simon said “I can’t say,” when asked about the gender of the baby.
