Roseanne Barr Blames Racist Tweet On Pills, Claims She Didn't Know Valerie Jarrett Was Black
Roseanne Barr is making all kinds of excuses for her racist tweets.
One day after the actress triggered an angry havoc in the Twittersphere that caused her hit show to be cancelled, she is finally speaking out.
"@ValerieJarrett i don't know if u saw it, but I wanted2 apologize to u 4 hurting and upsetting u with an insensitive & tasteless tweet. I am truly sorry-my whole life has been about fighting racism. I made a terrible mistake wh caused hundreds of ppl 2 lose their jobs. so sorry!" Barr wrote after being fired by ABC.
"@ValerieJarrett I want to apologize to you. I am very sorry to have hurt you. I hope you can accept this sincere apology!" she continued after calling Jarrett, 61, a result of "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes."
Soon after Wanda Sykes quit the show and execs cut production for good, Barr, 65, took to Twitter to defend herself, saying she never meant the remark to be racist.
"Hey guys, don't defend me, it's sweet of you 2 try, but...losing my show is 0 compared 2 being labelled a racist over one tweet-that I regret even more," she told her fans.
Replying to a Twitter user that claimed Jarrett looked "Caucasian," Barr wrote: "Yes, I mistakenly thought she was white."
"I honestly thought she was Jewish and Persian-ignorant of me for sure, but...i did."
Somehow, Donald Trump Jr. also got involved in the drama when he retweeted one of Barr's comments. Eventually, he even had to clarify that he "did not RT tweet anything that was anti-Semitic."

In a bizarre turn of events, Barr also blamed Ambien, a type of sleeping pill, for her offensive outburst.
"I think Joe Rogan is right about ambien. Not giving excuses for what I did(tweeted) but I've done weird stuff while on ambien-cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc.," the actress wrote.
As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, Barr feels "completely betrayed" by ABC and her former show costars following the scandal. "She's telling people Sara Gilbert and the others had told her behind the scenes that they will weather the storm together."
Soon after Barr published her comment, a source told RadarOnline.com Gilbert was furious! "She thinks that Roseanne is a disgusting and racist person," the source claimed. "Sara will never, ever work with her again."
Meanwhile, Jarrett assured fans she's "fine" following Barr's comments.
"I'm worried about all the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defense, the person who's walking down the street minding their own business, and they see somebody cling to their purse or run across the street," Jarrett said on MSNBC last night.
