Ricki Lake isn't sure she'll find love again after the tragic death of husband Christian Evans — but she has high hopes.

One year after the Hairspray actress' partner took his own life after losing his battle to bipolar disorder, she opened up about her life without him, and her goals for the future. Talking to PeopleTV's Chatter, Lake, 50, said "I found true love with my husband who passed so I'm hoping to find love again. I don't think I will. I'm open to it, but I think what I had — I was so lucky to have found that, it's what everybody wants in life."

RadarOnline.com readers know Lake filed for divorce from Evans in 2014, after just two years of marriage. Though the two tried hard to repair their relationship, the divorce was finalized in 2015.

Despite the fact that the two were separated at the time of Evans' death, Lake said she was still very much in love with him.

"I had true, unconditional love so I'd like to have something along those lines again," she told Chatter. "But I feel like lightning doesn't strike twice."

"I had the real deal; I just didn't have it as long as I wanted it," she added.

Radar readers recall Evans was spotted living in a homeless shelter after being dumped by Lake. Though the actress still kept in touch with him and tried to help him through his mental issues, the two were rarely seen together in public.

"It wasn't my comfort level to be together in secret," Lake told PEOPLE in March 2017. "He wasn't stable, and he was so fragile, but I was still in love with him, so there was something romantic about it. I wanted to save him."

Evan admitted to his bipolar disorder in his heart-wrenching suicide note, and since then, his ex-wife has done everything in her power to raise awareness about the disease and keep her love's spirit alive.
