Luann De Lesseps Blames Drunken Relapse On Her Kids' Lawsuit: 'I Felt Betrayed'
Feb. 25 2019, Updated 11:49 a.m. ET
Luann de Lesseps is speaking out about what caused her wild drinking binge and second rehab stint – and she blames her own kids!
In her first interview post-rehab with Megyn Kelly on TODAY, The Real Housewives of New York star said she relapsed quickly after learning of her children and ex-husband's explosive lawsuit against her.
"First of all, I found out about this whole story that I was getting sued in the press so that was devastating," de Lesseps revealed. "I felt betrayed."
The New York housewife's ex Alexandre and their two children, Victoria and Noel de Lesseps, sued the reality star over violating the couple's divorce agreement after she listed the family's Hamptons house on the market.
After learning the news, de Lesseps, 53, said she was with a girlfriend when she fell into a drunken stupor. She said she started with "two or three" watermelon martinis, followed by bottles of rosé and "probably a six pack of beer."
"I can't have one drink," the reality star admitted. "I was still dancing in my kitchen with a bikini on and a Panama hat."
The RHONY star revealed to Kelly that she will be celebrating 30 days of sobriety on Wednesday.
Despite her claim that she relapsed recently, RadarOnline.com reported she started boozing months before the shocking lawsuit.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, de Lesseps was arrested on Christmas Eve 2017 in Palm Beach, Florida for assaulting and threatening a police officer.
She is scheduled to appear in court later this month for the battery case. But she told Kelly on Tuesday that she is already on probation, which means she cannot drink.
"Really at this point, I feel like I'm almost allergic to alcohol because I can't be like most normal people and have a glass or two of wine," she told the host. "I'm just not wired that way."
