Jailed Redmond O'Neal Refuses To Take Medication: 'He Spends Days Talking To Himself'
Redmond O'Neal is spiraling as he sits in jail on attempted murder charges, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.
The troubled son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal "has been refusing to take prescribed medication by doctors," a source told RadarOnline.com exclusively, adding that he resides in the psychiatric wing of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
"His days are spent pacing his cell, talking to himself, and often loudly yelling. It would break Farrah's heart to see Redmond like this."
The 33-year-old admitted addict — who faces 22 years in prison for charges including attempted murder after a crime spree earlier this year — is now "lost to his demons" after once achieving sobriety.
"No one can get through to him. The Redmond that his family and friends knew during the times of sobriety is gone" the source claimed. "He has completely given up on life."
Now, when O'Neal leaves his jail cell, at least nine deputies allegedly escort him because he has been violent with other inmates.
RadarOnline.com exclusively reported that the Hollywood son was charged with assaulting a medical professional in jail on April 20, leaving the man bloodied and bruised.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, O'Neal was charged with 12 felony and misdemeanor counts relating to his run of violent crimes committed in Los Angeles this spring.
On May 8, O’Neal allegedly robbed a convenience store in Santa Monica after threatening a clerk with a knife and demanding money. O’Neal was subsequently charged with one felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device and two counts of possessing a controlled substance, which were meth and heroin.

Four days prior, he was accused of stabbing a man in the head with a knife. The victim's friend said he fell into a coma and nearly died, and now faces years of recovery.
O’Neal’s trial is on hold pending an evaluation on whether or not he is mentally competent to stand trial.
His attorney Nina E. Daly told a judge during a hearing on Sept. 7 that a court-appointed psychiatrist will examine O’Neal’s medical records.
The judge will consider the psychiatrist’s report to determine whether to move forward with the trial, or if O’Neal must first undergo treatment at a California state hospital.
No O'Neal family members have showed up in court to support him.
