‘Work-Obsessed’ Patrick Dempsey Ready For TV Comeback After Saving Crumbling Marriage
It’s a “McDream” come true! RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively Patrick Dempsey’s wife Jillian Fink has finally set him free to return to the small screen.
“He took time off to focus on his marriage and rebuild everything he very nearly lost,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “Now that he and Jillian are back on track, they feel it’s time for him to put effort into his career again.
As RadarOnline.com has reported, Dempsey and Fink, both 52, saw their marriage reach the brink after the hairstylist became fed up with her work obsessed actor husband. She even filed for divorce in 2015, shortly before Dempsey left his role as neurosurgeon Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in Grey's Anatomy.
But after some much-needed couples counseling, the two were able to reconcile their feelings, and reunited nearly two years later.
Now, Dempsey, who share kids Talula Fyfe, 16, and twins Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen, 11 with Fink, is ready to tackle the TV once more…this time with his wife’s help.
“Rather than being ships in the night, they actually set aside time each week to go through scripts for him,” the source added. “They’re looking for an amazing project that wouldn’t chew up his entire life like Grey’s Anatomy did, so they can still have time together.”
Dempsey and Fink, who bought a $6 million love nest after mending fences, are looking for something financially lucrative, but that will still leave plenty of time for family events.
“His dream is some kind of high-profile HBO series, with a big-bucks paycheck but only shoots 13 episodes per year,” the source confessed.
But even if they don’t find the perfect show, Fink is just happy to have saved their marriage.
