The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is looking into accusations Backstreet Boy Nick Carter raped a woman in the early 2000s, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“A sexual assault case was presented by the Santa Monica Police Department on July 31 involving Nick Carter,” LA County DA spokesman Greg Risling told RadarOnline.com. “It remains under review.”

As RadarOnline.com has reported, former Dream singer Melissa Schuman filed a police report against the singer, claiming he sexually assaulted her in a bathroom and a bedroom when she was 18 years old.

Now 33, Schuman spoke out about the alleged rape on her personal blog. In her recount, she claimed she was at a house party in 2006 when the male singer forced his penis into her mouth.

While she came forward with the claims, the case was dismissed that same year after investigators did not find sufficient evidence.

But now, Santa Monica police have turned over the case to the District Attorney's special task force, established last year in response to widespread allegations of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.

Carter, 38, also has been accused of sexual assault by a 20-year-old fan, and another who was underage at the time.

He has denied all charges.
