Mel B’s ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte, has been sued for failing to pay a pricey food bill for his Los Angeles restaurant, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

According to the lawsuit filed on Dec. 1 in the Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles, produce wholesaler Chasin Foods Inc. is suing Belafonte, 20 Does and Serafina Sunset, LLC for a total of $8,668.68 plus interest and attorney’s fees.

Chasin Foods Inc. is a company that sells produce, seafood, meat, dairy and provisions, according to its website. Belafonte is a co-partner of the Serafina Restaurant Group, which owns Serafina Sunset restaurants in NYC and LA.

Mel B reportedly opened the restaurant in 2016 along with Belafonte, and two partners, Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato. However, the former Spice Girl is not named in the suit.

The bill in question refers to the Los Angeles restaurant located on Sunset Boulevard. The wholesaler alleges it has “sold and delivered to Serafina Sunset, at their special request” goods and merchandise within the last four years.

On May 17, 2017, Chasin Foods Inc. claims it entered into a “written agreement” with Serafina Sunset “whereby Plaintiff would sell goods and merchandise to Serafina Sunset and Serafina Sunset agreed to pay for same.”

That same day, the plaintiff claims Mel B’s ex “assumed obligation of defendant Serafina,” according to the documents. While the suit admits Serafina Sunset “has made periodic payments on the account,” the full $8,668.68 has yet to be paid despite the plaintiff’s demands for payment.

A copy of the written agreement from May 17, 2017 is included in the suit and allegedly shows a signature by Belafonte stating he was the owner of the restaurant group.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 3, 2017, Chasin Foods Inc. claims Serafina Sunset breached the agreement the two companies had “by failing and refusing to pay the bill,” the lawsuit further states.

The wholesaler is demanding the full $8,668.68 amount, plus interest and attorney’s fees.

Belafonte’s failure to pay the restaurant’s bills begs the question of whether or not the restauranteur has gone broke. RadarOnline.com reported last month that the 42-year-old former Spice Girl agreed to pay Belafonte 15K per month over the next three years while they each have joint custody of their daughter, Madison.
