'Married At First Sight' Star Jamie Otis Suffers 2nd Miscarriage In 4 Months
Jamie Otis has suffered her second miscarriage in four months, she revealed on Instagram. The Married at First Sight star, 32, sadly told fans the news on Friday, January 11, 2019 that she'd miscarried at ten weeks.
Otis, who is married to husband Doug Hehner, wrote on IG, with a photo of their daughter Henley, who was born in Aug. 2017, "So thankful for this little one and her daddy.?? Our doc appointment didn’t go well today.? I’m devastated. We’ve had a 'failed miscarriage.' Our baby formed and there was an amniotic sac, but while the amniotic sac continued to grow the baby stopped at some point.?."
In a Christmas Day message, Otis and Hehner had announced they were expecting their second child. That followed losing a baby in a chemical pregnancy in September 2018.
The couple desperately wants a second kid but Otis explained in her new post that with the January 2019 miscarriage, "We had three options. 1) Wait for my body to miscarry our baby naturally. 2) Go to the hospital and have a D&C. 3) Take medication to help my body miscarry quicker.
"I really don’t want to have to go to the OR and have a D&C for obvious reasons. I’d love for my body to just naturally take the proper course, but since we don’t know how long that would take and since there’s a small risk for infection I opted to take the medicine and hope and pray it works so I don’t have to have a D&C.?."
Otis added, "I can’t thank you all enough for all the love, support, prayers, and encouragement you’ve sent us. You have no idea how much that has helped both @doughehner & I. You guys are the most amazing community of women & men here on instagram & social media and I hope you know how much we appreciate you all.??? We are so blessed to have such amazing Frans. Fans responded with their love and support for the popular reality TV pair, who wed within seconds of meeting each other for the first time on Married at First Sight in 2014.
Last month, the couple starred in their own spinoff titled Married at First Sight: Jamie and Doug Plus One. In 2016, Jamie and Hehner also lost the baby boy they'd named Johnathan four months into her pregnancy.
Otis previously told RadarOnline.com, "Who knew getting pregnant and making a family could be so difficult. I never knew I’d have so many challenges! In my family, we don’t usually struggle so much."
She noted, "I feel like the struggle is more common than we all realize. Many women go through this, it’s just never talked about. After I lost Johnathan, I hoped to change that in order to help more women feel less alone. Pregnancy loss can be so isolating and lonely."
