At the time, she was living with relatives in Garden Grove, Calif., with no rent or other bills, per the documents.
Today, the silver lining is Sutherland's been a keeper, according to Vela's family.
“My parents and I have met Kiefer a couple of times,” said her brother Freddy Vela.
“They’re happy together.”
Freddy revealed the couple met when they visited the set of a music video directed by Vela's friend.
“The family approves. She is very happy,” added Freddy of his sister, who has been traveling with her 51-year-old beau’s band on a European tour.
