John "The Teflon Don" Gotti, murdered and cheated his way to the top of New York’s most powerful Mafia family, the Gambinos, in the 1960s. While he managed to corrupt his way out of the courtroom and even prison following his many crimes, he was given an 80-year-sentence after journalist Nick Christophers went undercover and exposed his gang.

He died in prison.

Now, REELZs new docuseries takes a dive into the lives of the famed mobster and his many followers, explaining how exactly the once-poor Bronx boy ended up a millionaire crime lord.

“A car bomb is extremely rare,” says journalist Nick Christophers in the show teaser, speaking of one of Gotti’s very public planned murders. “That never happens in New York.”

Photos of the crime scene show gangster Frank DeCicco, John Gotti’s right-hand man, was smiling in the crowd after the vehicle exploded.

“He was a very powerful mob guy,” explains Gotti’s longtime friend, Andrea Giovino.

“He was feared, yeah, he was killer. He was somebody who you really were gonna have a problem with,” adds former federal prosecutor Edward McDonald.

Who would dare cross him? The feds wondered.
