Was Joan Rivers secretly killed because she made a nasty joke about the Obamas? The outrageous rumor has been circulating among conspiracy theorists ever since the comic icon passed away, and RadarOnline.com has learned that Melissa Rivers is finally speaking out to set the record straight.

Melissa, who recently settled a multi-million-dollar medical malpractice suit related to her mom's death, was asked about the charges regarding the Obamas in NYC this week.

"Oh, God, no … that was a joke!" she told reporters.

.

The scandal began only two months before her tragic death, when Joan was asked if the U.S. would ever see a gay or female president.

"We already have it with Obama, so let's just calm down," Joan said. "You know Michelle is a trans."

Despite Melissa's insistence, internet conspiracy enthusiasts still insist it's possible she was killed because of the joke.

The controversial jab made so an impact in 2014 that Joan was forced to defend it, releasing a statement that said, "I think it's a compliment. Michelle's so attractive, tall, with a beautiful body, great face, does great makeup … The most gorgeous women are transgender."

Meanwhile, when Melissa was asked what her Fashion Police mom would think about Hillary Clinton's and Donald Trump's fashion, she said, "She would just be enjoying the whole thing."
