Mischa Barton is at a very precarious point in her recovery, where she could go one way or the other, and RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively those closest to her don’t want her pushed too hard.

“On the outside she looks healthier and she’s lost some weight, but it’s her emotional state that her friends are worried about,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “She gets stressed and anxious so easily and the fear is that could trigger another mental breakdown or relapse.”

As RadarOnline.com readers know, Barton, 32, has a history of legal and mental breakdowns. Last year, she was rushed to the hospital for a mental evaluation after allegedly talking about her estranged mother and saying “incoherent statements” in her backyard. She blamed the meltdown on being drugged with the date rape substance GHB.

That same year, she took her ex Jon Zacharias to court to stop him from leaking their sex tape.

And just this month, Barton was hit with two tax liens, and RadarOnline.com revealed that she is in over $52,000 tax debt. Her depleted bank account has forced her to make some difficult, and controversial, choices.

“She’s working awfully hard and taking any job that comes her way,” the source added.

That includes a reboot of the MTV hit show The Hills, the reality show that was inspired by Barton’s first claim to fame, Fox’s The O.C.

But those close to her worry that the reboot may not be the best bet for Barton.

“She’s got a lot of projects going at once and now The Hills reboot, which isn’t such a good idea,” the insider admitted. “There’s a lot of backstabbing and undercutting happening on those shows and you don’t know who to trust, and Mischa could be in for a dangerous fall.”
