Fighting back tears in the video from her show, she described their humble lifestyle. “We only took one family vacation, we came to this lot to the Warner’s Bros. lot and took the tour,” she said.

“Before he passed away I got to talk to him, so I got to say goodbye to him,” DeGeneres said abut her dad.

However, DeGeneres’ relationship with her father had been strained for years.

The famed talk show host, 59, moved her dying dad into an elder care facility after he fell and broke his hip in 2016. She had been footing the nearly $2,000-a-month rental for the La Jolla, Calif., apartment where her ailing father, and her stepmom Virginia had been living, according to landlord Jon Hoffelt.

He broke his hip tripping over the threshold of the door onto the front patio,” Hoffelt told the GLOBE. “It was only an inch-and-a-half high — so you can see that.”

Hoffelt also told the GLOBE that Elliott denied any bad blood with Ellen over her lesbian love life and often proudly told him he never missed her show. “He loved that girl,” noted the landlord.

Prior to his move into a facility, another neighbor told The National ENQUIRER that DeGeneres never visited him in the home where he lived for more than 20 years.

“Elliott and his wife desperately need a new place to live!” the neighbor said before his wealthy daughter moved him into the elder care home.
