Donald Trump: 'The Tweeting Thing Does Get You In Trouble'

Donald Trump admits it: Sometimes he puts his foot in his mouth. On Twitter.

 The billionaire, appearing on Late Show with David Letterman Wednesday, was confronted about saying "cockeyed things" on the popular website.

"Do your kids say ‘dad, easy, you're a little here or there?’" Letterman asked The Donald, who responded, "They love me and they want to make sure that everything gets left to them!

"Sometimes I'll say things for a reason," Trump said. "Ivanka will say, 'Daddy, what a brilliant thing to say.' I have very, very supportive children but the Twitter thing, the tweeting thing does get you in trouble.

"You say things, and you think it's so cute, and so smart, and it comes back to haunt you!"

Trump famously ruffled a few feathers — most notably NBC News ace Brian Williams — after his election night rant complaining about President Barack Obama's re-election.
