'I Never Wanted This!' Heather McDonald Begs Chelsea Handler For Forgiveness

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Heather McDonald wishes she had never opened her big mouth! The former Chelsea Lately writer spoke to Ross Matthews on Hollywood Today Live and explained how devastated she has been since she was busted complaining about working for boss from hell Chelsea Handler.

"I was just being brutally honest about my own insecurities, my own shortcomings," McDonald said on Monday.

She claimed that her "one sentence" was taken out of context and that she "loved" the job and wasn't unhappy enough to quit.

"I was just reflecting on something from a year and a half back. I was being quite self-deprecating."

Matthews asked her if she regretted making the comment and she emphasized "Of course!"

"I never wanted this. I never sought the publicity. Then when it came out I didn't know how to deal with it. I didn't do any interviews. Once it's out it's very hard to rectify."

After McDonald's comments, Handler told Howard Stern that she cut off McDonald four years ago after she found out she was telling Us Weekly stories about her, which McDonald said was the "worst part" of Handler's ire.

"I swear to god I have never in my life done that," she insisted. "That was devastating."

Ultimately, McDonald offered a backhanded apology: "I'm really sorry that she or anyone else was hurt by that dumb sentence."
