Ben Affleck's brother Casey Affleck has revealed how the Argo star is trying to get a grip on his sobriety for the sake of his wife Jennifer Garner and their three kids.
Casey told ET while promoting his new film The Old Man and the Gun about the painful family struggle.
He said Garner, 46, has inspired Ben, also 46, to get sober. "Alcoholism has a huge impact on not just the person, but also their family. So, I think for his kids’ sake and for their mom, and for himself, he’s trying to do the work and get it together," Casey explained, adding that he and his brother "come from a long line of alcoholics."
Casey, 43, admitted, "Ben is an addict and an alcoholic. Most of my grandparents are alcoholics. My father is an alcoholic, as bad as you can be, and he’s been sober for about 30 years. I’ve been sober for about six years.
"Ben is trying to put it together, and it can be a very hard thing to do. He has the kind of resources and time, luckily, to take the time and go to a good facility," he told ET.
As RadarOnline.com reported, Garner performed an intervention on her estranged husband, whom she's divorcing. He went to rehab n August. Casey said about his brother's treatment that "it’s nothing to be ashamed of and it’s good that he’s taken care of." RadarOnline.com readers know that as Garner is helping Ben achieve sobriety, she also has a small town hideaway home in Oklahoma where she takes their children Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6.
All their fans wish the family luck!
