Carrie Underwood Reveals She's Suffered Three Miscarriages In Two Years

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Carrie Underwood has walked a hard fertility road. The country superstar has revealed that she suffered from three miscarriages in the last two years. Underwood is now happily expecting a second baby to join her son Isaiah, 3, by hockey player husband Mike Fisher.

But she recalled going through multiple miscarriages in an interview with CBS This Morning. The singer experienced the first miscarriage in 2017.

“I’d kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby,” Underwood said. “We got pregnant early 2017, and didn’t work out.” The deeply religious American Idol winner noted that her faith helped in the dark days afterwards.

“…in the beginning, it was like, ‘Okay, God, we know this is, just wasn’t Your timing. And that is all right. We will bounce back and figure our way through it.'”

But after suffering two more miscarriages--a second in 2017 and another in 2018, Underwood remembered, “at that point, it was just kind of like, ‘Okay, like, what’s the deal? What is all of this?'”

The star told CBS interviewer Tracy Smith, “I had always been afraid to be angry because we are so blessed. And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s okay, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.”

But when it appeared she was having a fourth miscarriage, “I got mad,” Underwood said.

She hugged her boy and thought, “Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid.

“And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt,” she noted. “That was like a Saturday — and the Monday I went to the doctor to, like, confirm, another miscarriage. And they told me everything was great!”

She said, “He heard me.”

Underwood recently pulled out of a music festival because of medical issues, but she didn't talk about that or if it was related to her current pregnancy.

As RadarOnline.com has reported, Underwood suffered another health problem when she fell and hurt her face, requiring 40 to 50 stitches. But she's found comfort in her music and plans to go on tour this spring – hopefully with her new baby along for the ride.
