Bethenny's Ex Accuses Her Of 'Dangerous Parenting' By Exposing Bryn To BF’s Addiction
Bethenny Frankel’s ex-husband Jason Hoppy is accusing her of dangerous parenting after the overdose of her late on-again, off-again boyfriend. RadarOnline.com can reveal exclusive details on The Real Housewives of New York star’s vicious custody battle over daughter Bryn.
Bethenny, 47, and Hoppy, 47, faced off in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday, August 16, Page Six first reported.
Hoppy’s attorney Robert Wallack told RadarOnline.com how the death of Dennis Shields last week “raises serious concerns about Ms. Frankel’s judgment” since Shields “spent a great deal of time around Bryn, and at times cared for her in Ms. Frankel’s absence.”
“Dennis Shields, died as a result of a drug overdose. It’s been reported that he was addicted to Oxycodone,” Wallack told RadarOnline.com. “Considering Mr. Shield’s addiction, we have real, legitimate concerns that Ms. Frankel was allowing him to be around Bryn, and to take care of her. This doesn’t just constitute a lapse in judgment, this was downright dangerous parenting.”
When asked if Hoppy would consider filing for full custody, which Frankel is currently fighting for, he responded that it is a possibility.
"Jason’s position has been that the current 50/50 joint custody arrangement should not be changed because it’s been working well for years and Bryn is thriving,” Wallack said. “However, we have some real, legitimate concerns about Bethenny’s recent behavior and her parental judgment, which could cause us to modify our stance at the custody hearing in March."
During the hearing, Page Six reported that Wallack brought up an episode of The Real Housewives of New York that aired on May 30, where Frankel “appeared to be intoxicated.” He then accused her of having an addiction issue of her own.

“She was running around without clothes on and then she passed out and it was said she passed out from mixing Ambien with alcohol,” Wallack claimed. “Our concerns are whether Ms. Frankel may have some type of substance abuse problems so we would ask the court to order drug testing of Ms. Frankel to find out whether that’s an issue.”
Shields passed away from a prescription pills overdose on Friday, August 10.
Frankel and Hoppy split in December 2012. Their divorce was finalized in July 2016, but they continue to fight over custody of their 8-year-old daughter.
Frankel recently asked for full custody of Bryn when Hoppy was arrested and charged with stalking and harassing her.
He agreed to a plea deal where he must comply with Frankel’s order of protection for six months. He was ordered to stay away from her home, place of business and to have no communication with her.
