The Voice Season 1 contestant Beverly McClellan died last week after a brave battle with cancer. However, the 49-year-old singer was just one of many to perish after appearing on NBC’s hit singing competition show. RadarOnline.com looks at seven other former contestants whose voices were forever silenced after starring on The Voice.
As RadarOnline.com reported, McClellan was a third runner up on Season 1 of The Voice. A member of Christina Aguilera’s team, the late singer won fans over with her rendition of “Piece of My Heart.” McClellan recently died of stage 3 endometrial cancer.
Alejandro “Jano” Fuentes was a Mexican singer best known for his participation with La Voz Mexico, the Mexican version of The Voice. On June 16, 2016, Fuentes was celebrating his 45th birthday with friends in Chicago when he was shot in the head during a car robbery. He was put on life support but died two days later.
Perhaps the most shocking of all of The Voice deaths was that of Season 6 finalist, Christina Grimmie. On June 10, 2016, Grimmie was brutally murdered after being shot while signing autographs following a concert performance in Orlando, Florida. As RadarOnline.com also reported, Grimmie’s mother, Tina, tragically died of cancer after surviving breast cancer four times.

Anthony Riley was a Philadelphia street performer who rose to fame during Season 8 of The Voice. However, shortly after making it through winning battle rounds on Team Pharrell, Riley exited the show and checked into rehab to deal with substance abuse issues. In June 2015, the 28-year-old beloved singer died from a suspected suicide.
Lizbeth Gonzalez Ruiz rose to fame alongside her twin sister on Season 4 of Mexico’s version of The Voice. Not long after, however, in January 2015, Ruiz died tragically in an automobile accident while driving with her family to a concert in Puerto Penasco. She was 18 years old.
Gibran David Martiz was a hit on Season 3 of Mexico’s The Voice. On January 7, 2014, Martiz was kidnapped from his home in Veracruz by gunman dressed as police officers. His body and the corpse of another man were discovered several weeks later after a shootout between security forces and the suspected kidnappers.
Although this last contestant did not die, her story is still horrific. The Voice 2015 contestant Meghan Lindsey woke up to find a dying brown recluse spider in her hand. The arachnid had bitten her face, and she suffered terrible symptoms for nine days. The young beauty was left with a gaping hole in her face as a result of the bite.
