Talk show titan Oprah Winfrey and her "secret son" — the boy she once dreamed of adopting — had a teary-eyed meeting after nearly 20 years apart. The encounter between Winfrey, 61, and Calvin Mitchell, now 35, took place recently as the chat legend walked out the stage door at New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater after taping The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and RadarOnline.com exclusively captured the dramatic moment on camera.

Mitchell was just 12-years old when he met Winfrey in 1993 and formed a loving five-year, mother-son bond. At one point, Winfrey even asked Mitchell's mom if she could adopt the precocious kid.

Placing her hand gently on his chest, Winfrey said: "Calvin, you just take care of yourself."

The pair's bond ended abruptly ended when, at 17, Mitchell dropped out of the posh Mississippi private school Winfrey had sent him to — and she has since refused to deal with him. Mitchell suffered from severe depression and, after the separation, once thought about committing suicide.

"She couldn't take the time to talk to me — just to let me talk to her without all these people around. I even tried to give her a hug and she backed away from me," Mitchell told RadarOnline.com of Winfrey, who refused to say more than a few words to Mitchell in New York. Still, he's hopeful they can reconnect someday.
