Perry's deeply religious parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, both 69, spoke during two packed services at the Church of Grace in Yorba Linda, California, on July 17 and 18, which they traveled to from their California home with their pet pooch, Louie — and what they had to say was absolutely shocking!

Keith and Mary Hudson admitted they have been embarrassed by their daughter's raunchy image in the past, but they insisted she has what it takes to come out on top, especially in her fight with pop diva Taylor Swift. "Don't judge her, pray for her," they implored.

Despite his kind words, the devoted dad took a swipe at his own flesh and blood! He admitted his daughter has caused some anguish in the family. "We certainly like it more than 'I Kissed A Girl,'" he said of her new music. "When 'I Kissed A Girl' came out we thought about moving to Venezuela because of the shame." Perry's mom added: "We were going to save former Venezuelan President who died in 2013 Hugo Chavez but it's too late for that now."

Keith, however, praised his little girl: "I spoke to my daughter the other day. I said you are really scriptural. She said, 'What do you mean?' I said, 'The Bible talks of fishermen and men, and you're good bait!'"

Despite his resistance to her image, Keith boasted of his own dark lifestyle in the 1960s, when he would take LSD and deal drugs. "How many of you growing up were called different? I used to have long, blond, beautiful, silky hair. My mother said, 'Cut that hair boy!'" To gasps in the congregation he said: "I looked like John the Baptist coming out of the woods but I wasn't eating locusts, baby. My candy was LSD! I was taking it like candy."

"I was doing my LSD, my other drug was weed, I couldn't get a job so I'd sell drugs. I was like a gypsy," Perry's dad added.

Keith also revealed that as a youngster hitchhiking in California he was smoking marijuana when a couple who gave him a ride said they were about to sacrifice him to the devil. "She said she was a witch and her boyfriend was a warlock. I screamed, 'The blood of Jesus!' at them and they ran off."

He also said he was proud to attend showbiz events with his daughter such as The Grammys. "Where do you think Jesus would go?" he asked the congregation. "A lot of them in the industry have walked with the Lord or grew up in church." He added: "If you are a parent who agrees with everything your son or daughter does, stand up, we'll shoot you, get rid of you now because you been walking in a lie.
