While leaving a London restaurant with then-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, who was 5-months pregnant at the time, Depp attacked paparazzi with a block of wood. "There won't be any pictures tonight or there'll be a fight," witnesses of the 1999 incident told Star. "He said if we took a picture he'd smash our heads in. He'd kill us." When the photographer snapped a photo, he reportedly swung the wooden block.

Although police arrested The Rum Diary star for the attack, he was not charged. "He was later cautioned for threatening behavior at approximately 5:20 am and released," a police spokesman told BBC.

A friend of Heard's told Page Six of the alleged abuse, "I got to her apartment to find her with a cut and bruised lip, a swollen eye and a chunk of hair missing from the top of her head. This incident really stuck with me because she confided in me that day that she feared for her life after an intoxicated Johnny tried to suffocate her with a pillow."
