Janet Jackson's messy divorce from billionaire baby daddy Wissam Al Mana is finally behind her. RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned it has brought her closer than ever to 61-year-old sister LaToya! Click through seven recent photos to find out how their messy past heartbreaks helped them to fix their broken bond!
Janet, 51, and Al Mana, 42 – who share a 1-year-old son Eissa – announced their split last April. According to Janet's older brother Randy Jackson, 61, Janet suffered "verbal abuse" and "felt like a prisoner in her own home" during her five-year marriage.
Coincidentally, LaToya went through a very similar experience in her rocky six-year marriage to manager Jack Gordon, which ended in June 1997. Although Gordon has not spoken much about their split, LaToya's famous family was extremely outspoken and insisted that LaToya was "brainwashed" by Gordon and that he was responsible for shattering her career and "turning her against her family!"
"Right now Janet is just living her life and taking it one day at a time," a Jackson family insider said.
"When she was with Wissam she went through a lot of issues with her identity and it was really hard on her," the source said, adding, "But since she left him she has gotten her identity back and has leaned on her sister LaToya as a source of strength to help her get through it."
"Janet used to look down on LaToya because she was never as successful as she was," the insider claimed. "But she realized when she was at the end of her marriage just how alike her and LaToya are after all."
Janet is "closer than ever to her entire family." "She is getting so much help raising her son from her siblings and she has a renewed faith in God and in the power of her family bond," the source said. "She is in a really good place right now and is just so happy to have a super tight bond with LaToya again."
