A landscape photo reveals the ski jump used for the 1956 Olympics in the city of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Veneto, Italy. Cortina had been unable to proceed with the scheduled 1944 Winter Olympics due to the Second World War, instead hosting the Winter Olympics in 1956, as well as a number of world winter-sports events.

This photo from 2012 includes an abandoned training pool for athletes in Athens, left behind after the 2004 Games. Eight years after hosting the world-renowned events in the country they were first created, Greeks were more concerned with financial turmoil than maintaining the once magnificent location.
