As Katy Perry and Taylor Swift fall over themselves to accuse each other of being “mean girls,” we take a look at other female celebrities who have been accused of being breaking out the claws. Meow!
In July 2014 Tia Mowry called out Charlize Theron for allegedly being mean to her when she bumped into the Oscar winner at a Los Angeles SoulCycle spin class. The former child star told In Touch: “I said, ‘Hi’ and she actually rolled her eyes and said, ‘Oh my God.’”
Gwyneth Paltrow Madonna
Former friends (and current enemies) have frequently accused Madonna of being a mean girl. Setting aside her on-going feud with Lady Gaga, Madge allegedly gave her former pal Gwyneth Paltrow the cold shoulder while she gushed over Beyoncé at the 2013 Met Gala.
A “bully” and a “publicly seeking hypocrite.” That’s what Sharon Osbourne once branded Lady Gaga during the singer’s high profile spat with her daughter Kelly. Gaga blasted the Fashion Police presenter for making “fun of others for a living” while (initially) declining to tell her millions of Twitter followers to stop cyber-bullying the British TV personality.
Kelly Osbourne is no shrinking violet. In addition to trading harsh words with Gaga (she told the singer to “eat my sh*t” on Twitter), she once mocked Christina Aguilera for gaining weight. Osbourne once said on Fashion Police: “Maybe she is just becoming the fat bitch she was born to be.”
Rihanna
Good Girl Gone Bad Rihanna is anything but sugar and spice and all things nice. The singer was once accused of mocking one of her own fans after the 16-year-old posted a photo of herself online wearing a jumpsuit similar to one RiRi wore on the red carpet. Rihanna teased the teen by posting a photo of her next to the bat-like Wu-Tang Clan emblem, tweeting: “She gets it.”
Nene Leakes’ reality TV career is fueled by drama and sass. So, was anyone surprised when The Real Housewives of Atlanta star called LaToya Jackson “Casper the Ghost” to her face on Celebrity Apprentice? As for fellow contestant Star Jones, Leakes once said: “I will get in anybody’s face if they really push me there and take me there.”
Kim Kardashian Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton’s mean girl ways are legendary. She has flung some of her harshest insults at former best friend Kim Kardashian. In a 2008 interview, the socialite said her one-time BFF’s butt is “gross,” adding: “It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.”
Perhaps one of the meanest things that Miley Cyrus has ever done was to mock Amanda Bynes and Sinead O’Connor for their battles with mental illness. During her 2013 public feud with the Irish singer (who is bipolar), Cyrus tweeted “before Amanda Bynes…there was” followed by a screen grab of O’Connor ripping a photo of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live.
Sharon Osbourne
Cattiness obviously runs in the Osbourne family. Like her daughter Kelly, Sharon is fast and loose with her insults. In 2013 she went on The Arsenio Hall Show and, after praising Barbara Walters for being “super-human,” she said that the rest of The View presenters can “go f**k themselves.” Charming.
Who could forget when Nicki Minaj cussed Mariah Carey while they were both judges on American Idol? During leaked footage of auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina, the “Anaconda” rapper can be heard telling Carey: “I told them, I’m not f**king putting up with your f**king highness over there.”
In a 2006 GQ interview, Christina Aguilera accused Mariah Carey of being mean to her years earlier. The Voice judge said: “We were at a party and I think she got really drunk, and she had just really derogatory things to say to me.” Then Aguilera added her own put-down, saying: “But it was at that time that she had that breakdown, so she might have been very medicated.” Ouch!
Courtney Love Lilly Allen
Clearly Courtney Love is not one to be messed with. The rocker – who once got into a Twitter feud with Lily Allen (whom she called a “fat,” “baby brat”) –admits she gives as good as she gets. In an interview with the U.K.’s Kerrang! Radio, Love once said: “If I don’t like you, I’ll let you know, publicly.”
Joan Rivers
The ultimate queen of mean put downs, Joan Rivers, has sadly passed on. But if you weren’t the object of the comedienne’s insults that meant you weren’t famous. In 2013 she joked about Adele’s weight saying: “What is her song, ‘Rolling In The Deep’? She should add fried chicken.”
Keyshia Cole
Remember when R&B singer Keyshia Cole dissed Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams on Twitter during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance? To recap, she tweeted: “Then Michelle sung and woke my ass up from my daze! She always f**kN the grove up.”
Lil’ Kim Niki Minaj
Lil’ Kim’s ongoing feud with Nicki Minaj is peppered with rude comments and insults. But in her latest track, “Identity Theft,” the tiny rapper made a not-so veiled reference to Minaj saying: “Anything you tryna do, I done did it.” Oh, and the artwork for the single features Nick Minaj’s face on Kimberly Jones’s (AKA Lil’ Kim’s) driver’s license.

Not only is Naomi Campbell well known for her bad temper she’s also been accused of being a mean girl, allegedly, to a young Tyra Banks. But perhaps her best putdown (according to the recipient, Victoria Beckham) was when she turned to the former Spice Girl at a fashion event in Milan and said: “So why exactly do they call you Posh?”
Katie Couric
“I wonder who she blew this time to get it.” That’s what Katie Couric allegedly said about Diane Sawyer when the former ABC World News Anchor snagged a 2004 interview with a 56-year-old woman who gave birth to twins. That is, according to claims in the tell-all book “The News Sorority” by Sheila Weller. A rep for Couric declined to comment on the accusation.
Wendy Williams
Outspoken talk show host Wendy Williams is not known for holding back. Her many b*tchy comments have included suggesting that Beyoncé’s baby bump was fake and discussing Rihanna’s haircut with the quip: “Those bangs cover a lot, huh. Bangs are working overtime!”
Azealia Banks
There are few celebrities with whom Azealia Banks hasn’t got into a Twitter feud. The angry young rapper has slung insults at everyone from Lady Gaga and Rita Ora to T.I. and Iggy Azalea. During a 2013 Twitter rant at Lily Allen she wrote: “She’s just mad cause sucking her husband’s d**k is like playing thumb wars.”
